Crazy laser system on a modified Boeing 747…what are they shooting down? The Missile Defense Agency website doesnt give much info but we can only imagine this is intended to protect against something we arent being told about…they say against ICBMs but when was the last time you saw one of those effers in the sky? Never. When was the last time you saw a UFO? Yesterday, in fact. Seems more likely the intended target– but dont count on them coping to that plea anytime soon.

Guess not.
The YAL-1 isn’t even near completion yet. As far as I know, all they’ve done with it is run a few test flight and have performed only one test fire of the COIL laser. But you have to admit, this is one cooler programs to come to fruition from the SDI program
